My Week - Wow.

Posted by Queenie 27 October, 2008

I just can’t sum up everything that has happened at the castle during the past week. I don’t know how, or where to begin. I am still sitting here in shock and I have not had any coffee yet. I quit drinking coffee last October - today, I am awaiting the pot to quit brewing. Just seems appropriate. Especially given the fact that it is 5:28 am and I am up, dressed, and at my desk already and it’s only 65 degrees outside.

We had TKD testing last week. All 5 of my crew, including myself, looked fantastic. Hub and Bug tested for their black belts. Along with my friend Mary. Friday night after that stress free time was over, was full of celebration. I really am having a hard time expressing to my hub how proud of him that I am. He has committed two years of his life to TKD. He did it for himself. It was in no way selfish. That is the beauty of martial arts. It is something that is personal. You push yourself. You train with guidance but your efforts are your own. You don’t rely on team mates to take up any slack for you if you have an “off” night. It’s all personal. To sit at the school that has been our family’s home for the past three years and watch him kick ass at testing, reminded of the personal struggles that he has been through during the past two years, I am just really damn proud of him.

Bug, I knew she would be great. There has never been a kid that has worked harder than she has the past few months to make sure she was prepared. She deserves her belt. More than anything.

Des went for 2nd recommended. It’s an odd step that is required in the ATA. He is not considered a 2nd degree yet but he fulfilled all of the requirements to test for his 2nd degree at the next testing in February. He went through a rough patch with his training the past couple months. Preteen, awkwardness. Not sure what to do with all of the hormones..meltdowns interfering with life. He has moved past it and looked amazing as well.

I have worked my ass off this cycle to ace my requirements. I am never sure what I wind up with because I refuse to watch videos of myself. I know I will obsess over things and not just appreciate my efforts. I trust my hub to be honest with me. He told me that I kicked ass. So…I kicked ass. As did Snoog.

Beyond TKD, on Saturday, I received gifts from two people that believe in something that I am involved in. I really don’t think it is appropriate to discuss the details of these gifts on my blog however, they were much more to me than what they appeared to be to everyone else. They symbolized several things. Faith mostly. Trust too. The important thing to me is that both of these gifts came from people in the world that I have never met. Yep. They didn’t know me and still sent me stuff. Because they have a bit of hope too. In today’s world…that is a difficult piece of yourself to give to anyone. I am honored and thrilled all at once.

I am also on the tail end of having the new site ready to launch. I am beyond excited to begin filling this place with another part of me. To not have a venue to pour that piece of me into makes me feel like I am drowning. I have all these thoughts that I want to pour out of my head and no place to put them. It’s cluttering me up and I really can’t wait to spew it all out. Clear the thoughts. Write them down so I can move on. That is why I love to blog. It’s my mental purge. Apparently, I need to purge a lot.

We spent part of our day yesterday, officially beginning the Halloween celebrations. The kids had a party to attend. Our host was amazing and the kids had a blast. They came home exhausted and happy. Every parents dream.

Today, I am taking my second spinning class. If you recall, the last class, which was technically my FIRST spinning class, caused my body to revolt and I wound up with the flu. Let’s hope I have better luck this time. :) In any case, I expect to be sitting in agony at my desk a lot over the next couple of days.

Man do those photos bring back memories and a very big longing to get back to it. I need to find a new style, as my old studio has under gone to many negative changes for me to feel like going back.
