ADD? … Oh, look at the bird

Posted by Queenie 1 October, 2008

Hub mentioned to me a week or so ago (hell I don’t remember WHEN exactly) that he thought I had adult ADD behaviors. At first, I was insulted. I took it badly. Then…it festered around in my brain for a while and well…I think he may be right.

I have realized since he mentioned this that I am distracted easily. I also have a hard time staying on task. I am usually multitasking in some way and doing 8 million things at one time. The only thing that differs is that I actually GET things done.

I can not work without either music or the TV playing in the back ground. I also don’t sleep in silence very well. I NEED the choas to feel comfy. Is this Adult ADD? I am asking because I really don’t know. I mean, I don’t want to be labeled. I don’t want to have people thinking that I need meds to keep my head straight. I do happen to get more of my WORK done after I have popped a couple of ginkos. But seriously, have you ever noticed how many fucking bullet posts I put up?????

When the teachers in public school tried to convince me that my son was ADD, I was pissed. I always look at that as an excuse to not deal with the overly creative and active brains of kids. I despise the ones who think you should medicate a kid to get him pay attention. It is one of the main reasons that we started home schooling. Now..the finger has been pointed at me. It was a loving finger. It meant no insults. It was just stating the facts. But OMG I think he was right.

I always thought of myself as brilliant. Now, I am just an ordinary adult with a whacked out brain. Geesh.

Oh come on, if you are, it’s nothing to be concerned about. I mean hell Ty Pennington has ADD, and the man is friggin hilarious and successful. I think it’s an advantage for some folks. I know my bro has ADHD. The guy can never sit still.

If all else fails take a silly test. http://psychcentral.com/addquiz.htm

Must be hereditary. I have similar tendencies and my daughter could be the poster child.

The reason ya get pissed is cause the first thing that pops in ones head when they hear ADD is the stereotypical hyper-active brat that no one wants to be stuck in a room alone with for more then 20 seconds.

We don’t have that :)

ADD is a ridulous definition of pure genius, they claim kids are out of control, guess what they are bored out of their minds, the drug companies make up stuff so they can sell medication and the doctors get paid to subscribe these medications. Its like PMS, is that surpose to be some new discovery! We all have it, should we be medicated, I don’t think so, its just the way it is. Lets medicate the genuis and supress the women, what a wonderful world for the men and pharmacies.

We are all ADD. I can’t tell you how many times a day I start something, walk away for a second, and then have no freaking idea what I was doing. That is the life of an adult with kids. Too much to do and not enough time to do it!! If meds is the answer sign me up, I can’t stand to forget!! Wait a minute, what was I talking about?

There are a LOT of us ordinary people with whacked out brains. You mean thats not normal?

Eh, if you really think its possible, there’s a test. It doesn’t mean you need to end up in a straight jacket nibbling your toenails. Unless that turns you on!
